Students are forced, due to their studies, into a certain form of nomadism, which they manage as best they can. To keep it affordable, as budgets are often very tight, most students often ask their family or friends for help moving from one place to another. However, thanks in particular to the collaborative economy, there are many other solutions for a low-cost student move without relying on family or friends.

Jemoove

This platform for moving assistance between individuals has been in pre-launch for a few weeks. Its mission is to connect individuals who want help with their move with other individuals willing to provide a service in exchange for a small additional income. Jemoove focuses on the user-friendly nature of this moving solution and is aimed primarily at a younger target group, those aged 18-30. While the individuals offering their help are not professionals, and no insurance is currently offered on the platform, it is above all a moment of sharing and conviviality that Jemoove offers its subscribers and, above all, the opportunity for those on a tight budget to be autonomous in their move.

MyDemenageur

This second platform, also based on what is called collaborative consumption, offers all individuals who need help with their move to post an ad on the Mydemenageur to exchange this request for help for a donation of furniture, another service (classes, babysitting, etc.) or a small payment. The platform is accessible to all and anyone who feels capable can become a strong arm (meaning a mover). The service can therefore be completely free or amount to a few dozen euros depending on the case. This solution is very advantageous and can be coupled, thanks to a partnership with different rental agencies, with a lower-cost vehicle rental for individuals who do not have a car. An evaluation system is set up on the site and well-rated strong arms are thus classified, they then obtain better visibility and more chances to increase their additional income. As a personal service, the amount spent for the move can also be subject to a tax rebate.

The Poor Man's Carrier

This micro-enterprise focuses on low-cost moving services with no administrative formalities. It targets low-income people who don't have a vehicle or can't afford to rent one. Simply contact the contractor, who will come with his vehicle to help them move or transport objects, boxes from point A to point B. The principle is a bit like Uber, and the rate is set by the driver based on the journey and the objects transported. There are no forms or contracts; everything is done verbally and without unnecessary paperwork. It is also possible to exchange a service or a piece of furniture as compensation. With this new consumption model, the founder, Salah Didouche, hopes to instill the idea of sharing and mutual aid in an economy where it is sorely lacking.
