The very principle of BeStudentAgain is to develop partnerships with foreign universities to enable them to offer their courses to French students, so we only work with foreign universities.
According to French law, internships in a professional environment must be integrated into a school or university curriculum. Thus, in compliance with Articles L.612-8 and Law No. 2013-660 of July 22, 2013 and Law No. 2014-788 of July 10, 2014, Decree No. 2014-1420 of November 27, 2014, the Order of December 29, 2014 as well as the Official Journal of February 10, 2015 and Decree No. 2015-1359 of October 26, 2015, it is mandatory to follow the courses corresponding to the school or university curriculum in which your internship is included.
Internship in a company
As defined by article L124-1 of the education code, an internship is: “temporary periods of work placement in a professional environment during which the pupil or student acquires professional skills and puts into practice the acquired skills of their training with a view to obtaining a diploma or certification and promoting their professional integration”.
"The purpose of any internship is to provide the student with practical training related to the teaching received at the university." The internship allows students to become familiar with the professional world, to apply their knowledge and to acquire new skills. (Law for Equal Opportunities of March 31, 2006). Under no circumstances can the internship be considered a job.
A student can do an internship at any time of the year.
In France, the duration of the internship(s) carried out by the same intern in the same organization cannot exceed 6 months per year of teaching (Art. L612-9 of the law of July 28, 2011).
Abroad, each country has its own specificities. Please contact us if you are interested in doing an internship abroad.
Absolutely, the internship agreements issued by our partner universities are also suitable for internships abroad. Don't hesitate to contact us to find out more.
Since December 2014, the intern's compensation has been expressed as an hourly rate. Since January 1, 2025, the minimum hourly compensation is 4.35 euros . For more details, please refer to the following page: https://www.service-public.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F32131
Even if the intern is not considered an employee, they can benefit from certain rights and advantages granted to employees. The intern has access to social and cultural activities offered by the works council. Reimbursement of expenses should not be included in the monthly allowance; these allowances must be paid in addition.
- Leave
In the event of pregnancy, paternity or adoption, the intern is entitled to leave and leave of absence of a duration equivalent to that provided for employees. For internships lasting more than 2 months, the internship agreement must provide for the possibility of leave and leave of absence for the benefit of the intern. During pregnancy, paternity or adoption leave, or other leave of absence provided for in the agreement, the continuation of the gratuity is not mandatory, as it is calculated on the number of hours of actual presence of the intern.
- Meal expenses
Where they exist for employees, the intern must have access to the company restaurant or meal vouchers under the same conditions as employees.
- Shipping costs
The employer is obliged to reimburse a portion of the transport costs incurred to complete the internship, under the same conditions as for employees.

Internship agreement
Internship agreements are issued by international universities. All our partner universities use the internship agreement recommended by the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research , published in the Official Journal of February 10, 2015: see official link .
The internship agreements are thus signed by the university, the referring professor, the representative of the host company, the internship tutor and the intern.
The internship agreement is a three-party contract between the university where the student is enrolled, the company, and the intern themselves. As BeStudentAgain is not an educational institution but a registration platform, we do not appear on this agreement and are not a party to this three-party agreement.
The internship agreements issued by our partner universities comply with French law (Art. L.612-8 and law n° 2013-660 of July 22, 2013, law n° 2014-788 of July 10, 2014 as well as Decree n° 2014-1420 of November 27, 2014 and Decree n° 2015-1359 of October 26, 2015). All students enrolled in universities abroad, via the BeStudentAgain platform, and who wished to complete an approved internship in France or elsewhere in Europe, had their internship agreement accepted by the host company. In 2013/2014, around a hundred students registered through our site and around 60 requested an agreement for an internship in a private company based in France. These companies obviously all accepted their intern, with the status of a student in a foreign faculty. Registration at our partner universities (known and recognized abroad) is done in the form of a full-time semester. The number of hours of classes given is therefore, depending on the courses, between 260 and 500 hours over this 6-month period, thus respecting the minimum required teaching volume of 150 hours. It is clearly specified on the agreements that the internship is an integral part of the academic curriculum . You will be assigned a contact person within the university, who will be your primary contact throughout your internship.

Health Insurance
BeStudentAgain is an online registration platform for foreign universities. As such, BeStudentAgain is not an educational institution. BeStudentAgain does not provide health insurance at any time.
Each of our partner universities has its own rules, and these are defined within the framework of the internship agreement that would be signed between the university, the company, and you. In general, it is your or the company's responsibility to take out student health insurance or supplementary mutual insurance (in the event that you do not have your parents' health insurance).
That being said, within the framework of the internship agreement and in line with the 2014 and 2015 laws governing internships in France, you are covered in the event of an accident at work by your employer's insurance, in the same way as all employees of the company.
